I have to start by saying I was incredibly sad when David Tennant left the show and had no intention of liking Matt Smith as the doctor. Shortly into the first episode of the 5th season however I couldn't help but approve of the new casting. Since then Matt Smith has thoroughly replaced Tennant in my mind as the doctor. That being said I was super excited for the new season to start. When I heard the new season would be aired in the US I was ecstatic. I had no idea whoever the level of and variety of the promotion being done in the states. On friday there was a 3 hour block about thew new season on a dedicated channel on dish network. I saw that you can watch all the trailers on xbox live and the advert for Doctor Who is one of the first things you see when you sign on. I think all of this is fantastic. I don't remember the last time a show like this got this kind of attention. So back to the 6th season opener, in short it exceeded my expectations. I am even more excited for the rest of the season, I am not however looking forward to the weekly waiting to see what happens next. So basically what I am getting at is if you don't yet watch Doctor who, maybe its time you start because this show is some of the best television you will watch this year.

PRAY TO CROM THIS DOESN'T SUCK
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't completely stoked for this movie to come out. Growing up I loved the origional Conan the Barbarian movie. Since then I've become a bit of a fanboy by reading the comics and delving a little into the books. Needless to say I have high hopes for this movie.

BULLETSTORM IN MY OPINION...
Let me first preface this post by saying I've loved pirates since I was a kid and after watching Firefly, the concept of space pirate have attached itself to that mild obsession. I played the demo for Bulletstorm and thought it was great although I assumed like most demos the game itself would fall short of my expectations. I bought this game on a whim, completely expecting to be let down. Maybe this is why I enjoyed it so much. Right from the beginning I was hooked, despite a few awkward moments in the dialogue. I enjoyed that the game gave you the sense of being an outlaw in space but with a purpose. The story itself was entertaining and enjoyable, far more immersive than I expected from a game that was marketed solely as a very mature game. With that said, this is a very mature game, every cutscene is filled with as much swearing as possible. This may have been one of the only downsides to the game for me. I couldn't care less about adult content within video games but it has to be relevant to the situation and make sense. Often it felt like they through in mature dialogue in each scene just to fill some sort of quota demanded by the publishers. It made the cutscenes feel very unnatural at times. Aside from that though the rest of the game was fantastic. The gameplay felt very natural, its design felt as though you really could master the controls very quickly. After the second mission you begin to do exactly what the game is designed to make you want to do, kill as creatively as possible. I'm not generally into super linear games but Bulletstorm does a good job of making up for it by giving you incentive to kill everything that moves in the raddest way possible. The weapons in this game also add a bit of depth to the gameplay, both because they were well crafted conceptually and because each offered its own strategy to the way you played the game. By the end of the game its hard to pick which load out you want to go with. I felt that the limited availability of free ammo was key in helping me choose my load out at times. The graphics in this game were also pretty impressive and the game itself is very stylized. I haven't wanted to play through a game again since the first Bioshock, but I found myself playing half way through Bulletstorm again. In the end though I couldn't persuade myself to finish the game a second time. Truthfully there just wasn't anything pulling me back into the game other than the enjoyable gameplay and frankly thats just not enough for me. The multiplayer gives you the chance to run around and kill npc's but its just not the same in my opinion. To summarize this post, I thoroughly enjoyed this game despite its flaws and would recommend everyone give it one good play through.

MISSION STATEMENT
My name is Sias Parsons, welcome to my life. Through out history opinions were the truest form of social currency and these are mine. If you're keeping up with this blog you're going to get an ear full of everything I enjoy in life and much of what I don't. This is my way of screaming into the endless void that is the internet with no regard to whether I am heard or not. I'll be using this blog as a documentation of my opinions, creations, and the endless changes that present themselves into my life. I will also be using the blog to spread the word about things I have nothing to do with but think are completely awesome.
